NOTES ON THE SCHOLARLY-CRITICAL TEXT OF "AGATHANGELOS' HISTORY"

The article presents a theological analysis of the critical edition of the History of Agathangelos, compiled by Galust Ter-Mkrtchyan and Stepanos Kanayants.
The study examines problematic fragments containing theological contradictions concerning the nature of God the Father and the incarnation of God the Son. It analyzes specific prayers and sections from the History of Agathangelos, where ideas inconsistent with the Christian theology, as presented in other parts of the same work, are identified.
Special attention is given to the possibility that the aforementioned contradictions might have arisen due to errors in copying or editorial changes made to the original manuscripts.
In conclusion, the article emphasizes the necessity of conducting a new textological study of the History of Agathangelos, based on a broader spectrum of manuscripts, which is particularly significant for ensuring the theological accuracy of the text.
