INTRODUCTION OF A COMPETENC-BASED EDUCATIONAL MODEL IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

Abstract

The drastic changes taking place in public life lead to reforms in the education system, as a result of which the content of education and the expected outcomes are being reviewed, which leads to the emergence of the problem of measurability of the latter. Rapid globalization, tense war situations in different countries, the virtualization of human relations, the lack of contact dictate a new reality, creating the need to form individuals endowed with capabilities. This is evidenced by the fact that the heads of state and government, during the Third Summit of the Council of Europe held in Warsaw in 2005, affirmed that the basis of the education system worldwide should be a competency-based approach.

The competency-based approach was also enshrined in the process of educational reforms in the Republic of Armenia. The State educational standard for preschool education, approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia in 2021, as an initial component of the state standard for general education, stems from the competency-based approach.

The aim of the article is to discuss the essence of the competency-based model of preschool education in the Republic of Armenia and identify the difficulties associated with its implementation.

The methods used in the article are: analysis of theoretical material, observation, interview, experimentation.

During the study, the difficulties in organizing competency-based education in 542 piloted preschool educational institutions of the Republic of Armenia were recorded and ways to overcome them were developed.
